  1. Job Objective

Continual development to improve Environment Health Safety & Sustainability (EHSS) management systems. Key personnel to drive to meet 100% compliance with all regulatory EHSS requirements. Reduce EHSS risks to the lowest level practicable. Embed effective EHS operational controls at every level in the organization. Set objectives and monitor EHSS performance. Implement corrective actions where EHSS issues are identified

 

Drive the capsules team to achieve ZERO TOLERANCE ON INJURY AND INCIDENTS.

  1. Primary responsibilities

Subject Matter Expert (SME):

  • Act as the EHSS subject matter expert on all Environmental Health Safety & Sustainability related areas and drive the compliance, Operations of water and wastewater treatment system, Process Hazard Analysis, Inspection and auditing of the system.
  • Provide in-depth knowledge support on all EHSS related legal & statutory like factories act, environment protection act, hazardous management rules…etc
  • Support plant in conducting and reviewing due diligence on brownfield, greenfield projects and plant operational, ensuring 100% EHSS legal compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross function team to lead the Emergency response team, Fire Fighters and First Aiders.
  • Support to achieve the ESG/Sustainability goals and KPI.

Capability development:

  • Coordinate with plant HR team to Lead, train and develop members at site on all the EHS activity. (KPI Target: 1 mandays per person per year).
  • Ensure that all associates are inducted, as per the safety procedures.
  • Identify the training needs of staff as per the training matrix and liaise with managers to nominate staff for training courses.
  • Monitor associate training and report on training targets/compliance to the plant manager, departmental heads and EHS Lead.
  • Conduct awareness day celebration like World Environment Day, National Safety Week, Earth day, Water day…etc.
  • Drive Rewards and Recognition to develop safety culture among the associates.
  • Co-ordinate the plant safety committee meetings and conduct the APEX EHS meeting.

Communication:

  • High-level verbal and written communications skills. (English and vernacular language)
  • Rapport building with various stakeholders in around the neighbourhood of the unit, able to communicate with different team.
  • Liaison with Government and statutory authority.
  • Handles matters related to reporting and investigation of industrial accidents (both internal & external as per matrix).

Documentation

  • Compiles EHS documentation as per the EHS Manual requirements for the plant/BU and keep readily accessible to process employees and management. Keeps updated on an annual basis.
  • Maintains all records (Leading & Lagging Indicators) as are necessary relating training, Incidents, accidents, submittal forms and KPIs (28 nos).

Accountability and Responsibility:

  • Devise plan to reduce the high-level risk identified in the hazard analysis.
  • Control all risks associated with non-routine and emergency work through permit to work system.
  • Conduct routine work permit audit along with the plant head/Leadership team.
  • Contractor Management – Plant: Guide in implementing systems for identification, induction and access control working closely with the contractors’ representatives.
  • Contractor Management – Project Contractors: Guide in implementing construction safety systems through contractor safety coordinators
  • Manage plant modifications / projects through a change management system which includes pre and post safety audits.
  • Train and implement for effective usage of LOTO system for all type of energies.
  • Ensures proper operation and control of all wastewater treatment and recycling system, for comprehensively abiding with statutory regulations.

Monitor and review:

  • Legal compliance tracker review and counter measures for the gaps identified on monthly basis.
  • Management Information System (MIS): KPI – leading & lagging indicator of EHSS function on monthly basis and present to the top management & stakeholders.
  • Conduct various EHS inspection and audit on theme based like PPE audit, machine guard audit, Interlocks audit, ergonomic hazards, energy isolation, material handling & storing…etc
  • Conduct mock drills on various scenario to meet the any disasters.

  1. Reduction of Incident frequency rate by 50% in next three years.
  2. Achieve 90% reduction of GHG emission (Scope 1 & 2) by year 2030.
  3. Achieve 96% Landfill Free of waste (solid & liquid) by Year 2030.
